Manuscript Features

Except a few folios in the beginning, the folios of this MS are totally out of order. Originally, the MS might have consisted of some 90 folios, of which some 20 are missing. Especially those portions of the text belonging to the second, third, and fourth verb classes are no longer extant.

Exposure 2 shows the back of fol. 1v, serving as a cover leaf. Exposures 70 bottom and 71 show another folio, equally serving as a cover leaf. On one side of this folio there is a portion of another text in Maithilī characters, not belonging to the text proper, on the other side there is a sequence of the Sanskrit alphabet (without vowels) in Newarī characters, as well as the title Dhātuvṛttiḥ in Devanāgarī characters.

There is a short description of this MS in BSP vol. VI, p. 28, no. 97, where the text is called Dhātuvṛttiḥ.
